Mumbai's iconic Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital, which is currently on Rs.400-cr expansion to upgrade itself into a world class healthcare entity, has shuffled its management team by roping in several top professionals from other hospitals.
Promod H Lele, one of widely acclaimed experts in the healthcare sector and the former chief executive officer, of Hinduja Hospital, has joined as management advisor with Radiant Life Care which has recently taken over the operations and management of the 66-year-old hospital.
Mr Promod, a charted accountant and cost accountant and holder of LL.B, was the chief executive officer, of Hinduja hospital for 11 years. He was also the chairman and the managing director of Parke Davis and as an executive vice-president of Johnson & Johnson. A winner of “Aarogya Seva Vrati Award” 2012, he is also an independent director at Atul Bio-Sciences Ltd and chairman of Health Bridge Advisors Pvt Ltd, a healthcare consulting firm.
Another key appointment, as part of the measures to power the expansion project, is that of Dr Rajendra Patankar as the chief of operating officer of Nanavati Hospital. Dr Patankar, who holds an MD in hospital administration and planning from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, brings 15 years of experience in the field. He has commissioned seven hospitals and successfully managed them. He worked with reputed institutions like Manipal Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, Hinduja Hospital, Aster D M Healthcare and Surya Child Care. He is also on the academic board of Welingkar’s School of Management for Hospital Administration.
Deepak Samant, a cost management accountant with 25 years of experience including about 15 years in healthcare sector, has joined as the chief financial officer. He has worked in the past as CFO with Wockhardt Hospitals and more than 9 years as Director (Finance) with Hinduja Hospital.
Anil Sahasrabudhe, a certified Materials Management professional with 32 years of experience in the field, has been appointed as the vice president of Materials. He held various executive and senior positions in several pharmaceutical companies like like Alkem, Tata Pharma, Parke Davis and healthcare institutes like Hinduja and KDA Hospitals. Another new appointment is that of Sunil Karanjikar as the AVP and head of Head, Human Resources. An MBA in HR, he has 20 years experience, mostly in the healthcare sector.
“We have embarked on a journey to transform Nanavati as a stand-alone quaternary care hospital of the megapolis, bringing in the best in technology and skills. Our plan is to triple the capacity with another 600 beds and more super-specialty wings. All these appointments reflect this motto,” commented Dr Mradul Kaushik, the executive director of the hospital.
